Workers as well as businesses benefit from safe and productive employment with respect for labour rights. This needs to be actively supported at production sites, sector and industry level and at national as well as international level.
Social dialogue – including all types of negotiation, consultation and exchange of information – between workers, employers and government is a vital mechanism in the continuous development of a sound labour market. It can contribute to safeguarding core labour rights and plays an important role in the achievement of SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth.
