At this Ethical Trade Norway Forum, we will meet three Ivorian cashew farmers and heads of cooperatives operating in three different regions of Côte d’Ivoire. They will share their perspectives on cashew farming and cooperative organisation, sustainability, quality and certifications, challenges related to marketing their nuts and living income.
Côte d’Ivoire is the world’s largest producer of raw cashew nuts with more than 1 million tonnes produced in 2022. 78% of the 2022 harvest was exported as raw nuts to primarily Vietnam and India for processing while the remaining was processed locally. The sector consists of more than 400.000 mostly smallholder farmers often organised in cooperatives through which they sell their harvest.

This meeting is part of the project “Strenghtening sustainable practices in the Ivorian cashew nut sector” funded by Norad and implemented by Ethical Trade Norway in collaboration with Inades Formation Côte d’Ivoire. The meeting is open for everyone.
The meeting will be held in French and English with simultaneous interpretation.
